FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A little clarity before we get started.
Every salon is different—and that’s exactly why The Standard Audit is personalized. Here are answers to some of the most common questions about the process, what to expect, and whether it’s right for your salon.
-
The Standard Audit is a personalized business assessment designed to help salon owners understand what’s working, what may be getting in the way, and where the strongest opportunities for improvement exist.
We look at your business through our five-part Standard Method: Profit, Client, Team, Systems and Owner.
This isn’t a generic checklist or automated report. Your salon is reviewed individually, and your recommendations are based on the information you provide about your actual business.
-
The Standard Audit is designed for salon owners who know their business could operate better but aren’t always sure what needs to change first.
You may be a good fit if your salon is busy but profitability isn’t where you want it, your team lacks consistency, systems frequently break down, you’re carrying too much as the owner, or you simply want an objective look at your business before making your next move.
-
No.
The Salon Standard isn’t about having a large team, a luxury space, or a picture-perfect salon.
We work to support salons at different sizes, styles and stages. What matters is that you’re ready to take an intentional look at the business behind your salon.
-
No. Your business structure will be taken into consideration as part of your assessment.
If certain questions don’t apply to your salon, simply select Not Applicable or explain your current setup.
-
After purchasing, you’ll complete a detailed Salon Business Assessment that gives us a clear picture of your salon.
From there, I personally review your answers and supporting information through the five areas of The Standard Method.
You’ll receive your personalized Standard Report™, your prioritized 30-Day Standard Plan, and a 45-minute private findings call where we’ll walk through what I found and what I believe deserves your attention first.
-
You’ll be asked about areas such as your revenue, pricing, service menu, client experience, rebooking and retention, retail, team structure, salon systems, owner responsibilities and business goals.
You don’t need perfect bookkeeping or every number memorized.
Approximate numbers are okay when exact figures aren’t available. The goal is to create an honest picture of where the business stands today.
-
Yes. Information submitted for your audit is used for the purpose of reviewing your salon and preparing your personalized recommendations.
Your individual business information will not be publicly shared as part of The Salon Standard Co.'s marketing or educational content without your permission.
-
No.
The Standard Audit looks at your salon from a business and operational perspective. We may identify areas where stronger financial visibility, pricing review, expense management or profitability analysis could benefit your business, but The Salon Standard Co. does not replace your accountant, bookkeeper, attorney or financial advisor.
-
The goal isn't to find everything that's “wrong.”
We look at what's working first, then identify areas where stronger systems, clearer numbers, better consistency or different priorities could strengthen the business.
Sometimes the most valuable outcome of an audit is discovering what you don't need to change.
-
Yes—but we won't hand you a list of 25 things to change at once.
Your recommendations are prioritized so you understand what deserves attention first, what can wait and what may not need your attention at all.
Your 30-Day Standard Plan gives you practical next steps for beginning that work.
-
The Standard Audit is primarily an assessment and strategy service, rather than ongoing salon management or coaching.
Your report and 30-Day Standard Plan are designed to give you clear direction for implementation. If additional support would be beneficial, we can discuss appropriate next steps during your findings call.
I like this wording because it leaves the door open for future consulting services without promising something you aren't currently selling.
-
After your completed assessment and requested information are received, your salon will enter the review process.
I would put your actual turnaround time here before publishing. For example, if you decide on 7–10 business days:
Your completed Standard Audit is typically delivered within 7–10 business days after all requested information has been received.
I would not promise a turnaround yet unless you're confident you can consistently meet it.
-
No.
The purpose of the audit is to give you clarity—not create more overwhelm.
Your recommendations will help you distinguish between what should be addressed now, what can come later, and what may already be working well.
-
You don't have to be struggling to benefit from an outside perspective.
The Standard Audit can also be useful for established owners preparing to grow, restructure, step away from behind the chair, strengthen their team, improve profitability, or simply make sure the business is built to support its next stage.
-
No—and I would absolutely include this question.
Every salon is different, and results depend on many factors, including your current business, market, team and implementation.
The Standard Audit identifies opportunities and provides recommendations based on the information available, but specific financial or business results cannot be guaranteed.
-
Because The Standard Audit is a personalized service and work begins after purchase and submission of your business information, all sales are final.
Please review the service details before purchasing and reach out with any questions if you’re unsure whether The Standard Audit is right for you.
